Frequently asked questions
Which lists does this tool check?
Two banned lists: the FOSFA List of Banned Immediate Previous Cargoes (1 September 2026) and the Codex banned list (CXC 36-1987, Table A3, revised 2026). Three lists of acceptable cargoes: Regulation (EU) No 579/2014, Codex CXC 36-1987 (Table A2, revised 2026) and the FOSFA List of Acceptable Previous Cargoes (1 September 2025). Every result shows source, edition and date.
Does 'not found' mean the cargo is prohibited?
Not necessarily, but do not assume the cargo is allowed either. It means the name is on no banned list and on no list of acceptable cargoes. A cargo on a banned list is shown as BANNED. Check the latest edition at FOSFA and your contract before drawing a conclusion.
Can I choose which lists are checked?
Yes. Tick FOSFA, Codex and EU on or off; all three are on by default. The result and the printout only apply to the selected sources and state which were not checked, for example 'acceptable according to FOSFA; not checked against Codex and EU'. A cargo that is acceptable under one source can be banned under another.
Can I enter Dutch names too?
Yes, Dutch names and synonyms have been added for the common cargoes, such as azijnzuur or glycerine. Otherwise search by the English name.
